Flaming Sands Academy of Middle Eastern Dance

Founded in 2003 by Samiya and Evelyne, the Flaming Sands Academy of Middle Eastern Dance quickly grew to become Wide Bay Queensland's largest Bellydance Academy.

The opening of the Academy was celebrated by putting on workshops and the Drums of Egypt concert with international guest teachers and performers Hossam (Egyptian Percussionist) and Serena Ramzy (Master BellyDance teacher).

The Academy itself has since grown to include a Middle Eastern Percussion Group, the 'Drums Of Egypt' (named after the original concert featuring Hossam and Serena) who perform alongside the Flaming Sands Belly Dancers at events all over South East Queensland.

Our performances over the years have included appearances on stage with Australia's legend of rock, Normie Rowe.

We also featured on the lifestyle show The Great South East when they did a section on Maryborough Qld and hit our local papers alongside Dr Harry (Harry's Practice) under the heading "Dr Harry's Bellydancers".

Our classes are designed to teach technique and choreography in a non competitive environment where fun is an important element of learning.

Our BellyDance and Percussion classes are open to women and men, and in our after school activities organized by the Australian Sports Commission, we teach children Middle Eastern Dance and Percussion.

Our other activity specialties are our Hen's Night Packages "Cairo Nights" and our children's parties "Arabian Adventures".
